May 2002

May 22, 2002:  Jasmine got her second set of 4 shots.  She screamed, yes!!!  But once her mind was focused on something else, she was just fine!  When she started screaming, the nurse said:  "I believe she's going to be a soprano!"  haha.  I got to look at her charts, and I was told that Jasmine was in the 75 percent range of growth.  That's great!  She's now 15lbs 12oz and 25" long.

May 23, 2002:  Jasmine slept from 7:00pm lastnight, until 6:30am this morning.  Whoh!  It must have been the Tylenol and the Benedryl that I gave her!  This morning she had a fever of 99.4.  I gave her more Tylenol.  There really shoudn't be anything to worry about.  It's normal to have a fever for 24hrs after shots are given.  I'm going to call the dermatologist today to see if I can get an appointment ASAP for Jasmine's eczema.  It's looking really bad, and she's not comfortable at all.  Her skin is rubbing away and she just can't stop itching!

I tried calling the dermatologist today and they said it would take 2-3 weeks for her to get an appointment, and I also needed a referral from another doctor.  I couldn't wait any longer, so I called her pediatrician and got an appointment that same afternoon.  Dr. Bob Tibbs said that Jasmine had the worse case of Eczema that he's ever seen on an infant this young.  So he filled out 4 different perscriptions for Jasmine to try.  He said if her skin didn't show any improvemnet by Monday, to call him!!!

May 24, 2002:  Jasmine's skin is showing a lot of progress!!!  I'm hoping that if I keep up with all of her medications, that she will be a happier baby, and her skin will clear up totally, like it used to be.  I hope the itch goes away, also; because that's what bothers her the most.  I had a pretty interesting day with Jasmine today.  She was in sucha  good mood.  I was swinging her around above my head, and she was just smiling and giggling away.  But let me give you a hint:  Never throw a baby around playing, and have your mouth open at the same time... you may just get a disgusting treat from her mouth to yours!  Ick!!!  *haha*  Trust me, I know from recent experience!  =)

May 25, 2002:  Today Jasmine is spending the day at her Grandpa and Grandma B.'s house.  Her great-uncle and great-aunt are coming to visit for Memorial Day weekend, and they want to see her!  It's their first time seeing her in real life!  And she's all grown up now!!!  I hope she has a fun time!!!

Jasmine is home now:  I hear that Jasmine had a pretty good day spending time with family.  On the way home, there was a down pour and it was quite a challenge just getting Jasmine from Daddy's car, to the house, without getting drenched!

May 26, 2002:  Today is Jasmine's Grandpa and Grandma M.'s 1-year Anniversary.  We went to church this morning, and she was good for most of the service.  She started to get tired, so I took her back to the nursery.  Elizabeth was there also, so they got a chance to play.  Elizabeth is rolling over, over and over again!  She's only 3 weeks younger than Jasmine is, but she's been rolling over for about a month now.  I guess all babies are different.  I think Jasmine is too chunky to pull herself over!  *haha just kiddin' babygirl!  You're perfect...perfectly cute!  Grandma and Grandpa went to Memphis for the day/night for their anniversary, so Mom got to spend some quality time, all alone, with her sweet babygirl Jasmine!  =)  I can't belive how well her skin is looking!  The rash is almost completely gone!  There's maybe only 1 or 2 rashed spots on her body yet.  She seems a lot more happy, also!!!

May 28, 2002:  Today is Jasmine's 5 month birthday!  I was hoping that she's roll over on this day.  I guess she's more of a "scooter" than a tumbler.  She'll probably start crawling before she turns over!

May 29, 2002:  Jasmine had an unbelievable day today!  All laughs, smiles, and giggles!  She stayed up late... but slept all through the night, into the next morning.

May 30, 2002:  Jasmine is having another one of those wonderful days.  She's babbling on and on and on, and laughing like you wouldn't believe.  Sometimes I'm not even looking at her, and she's laughing.  I look down at her, and she does it some more.  She got a call from her great aunt, and second cousins Alyssa and Courtney.  They got to talk to her on the phone from back in Wisconsin.  Despite of the very few and very short 5 minute naps Jasmine had today...  she has been such a content and fun, loving girl!!!  She must have wore herself out... because she's fast asleep now!

May 31, 2002:  She's catching up on sleep with a lot of naptime!  But in the late afternoon, at about 4pm...  She rolled over from her tummy to her back.  I layed her on her blanket on the floor, and we were playing...  I showed her how to pull herself a little bit to roll over, and after awhile she did it!!!

June 01, 2002:  OK~ Jasmine woke up in a good mood, then got super cranky!  Tired!!!  I rocked her for awhile on the porch swing, then took her for a stroller ride, and she was out sleeping within 5 minutes!  She's still sleeping yet.  I kept her in the stroller, and opened the door.  She loves the outdoor fresh breeze and the sound of birds and everything.

June 03, 2002:  I took Jasmine for an afternoon walk to the park today, but we only stayed for a little while, because it was really hot outside, and too sunny for her sweet pale skin.  We got the chance to see the duckies though!  =)  Afterwards, we went for a ride around town, and enjoyed a little ride with the wonderful air conditioner!

June 04, 2002:  Today Mom, Jasmine, and Grandma decided to go on a last minute trip to Memphis to go shopping!  Jasmine was saying" bah bah bah bah bah.... all throughout Babies "R" Us.  She was having a ball.... and so was I.  There's just so many cute clothes, and so many things in Babies "R" Us,  it's overwhelming.  We then went to the mall, and only stayed for about 10 minutes, then we left to go back home.  It was soooo hot in the mall.  They must have turned the air conditioner way down.  I felt like I was gonna faint, and Jasmine was all hot and sweaty and uncomfortable, so I checked out, and we went on our way back home.

June 05, 2002:  Today Jasmine had such a rough day, I don't even want to talk about it.  But at least she looked cute while she was crying... in one of her new summer outfits.  *LOL*  Poor thing!!!

June 06, 2002:  Today after Grandps M.  got off of work; He, Grandma, and Momma went with Jasmine to a catfish pond to do a little fishing.  Momma and Jasmine just took the stroller for a walk around the area.. but Grandpa and Grandma M.  did the fishing.  They caught 16 big ones!  We didn't stay very long, because we got a late start, and needed to get home to finish making supper.  But it was fun...  Jasmine got some fresh air, but it was still hot for her.  She needed some sun so that her cute fair-skinned self could get used to the sun's rays, so she won't burn as easily.  Jasmine must have been tired by the time we went home, because she had good naps all day long, and then was in bed by 8:30pm already.  Her bedtime is usually about 10 nowadays.  She's a nightime gal.  She's in a really good, and playful mood starting at about 9pm every night.  She must get that from her Mama!

June 07, 2002:  Today was just Jasmine and Momma's day.  All alone to play by ourselves.  Too bad she has been kind of cranky today.  She's got a little tummy trouble yet, and she's teething; so she's not always in the best of moods lately.  But she'll be so cute with those little baby teeth inside of that big smiling mouth of hers!  =)  I gave her a bath, then layed her down for a nap.  She's having a ball now!!!  Grandma and Grandpa M.  are at their neice's college graduation today.  And her Grandma and Grandpa B.  are in Alaska for awhile.  It's nice having some alone time, but I know there's a lot of people missing eachother right now!  =(

June 09, 2002:  Today Momma stayed home from church so she could get caught up on some sleep, when really she didn't!  I had to get Jasmine ready for church anyway.  Grandma M. just brought her instead.  And the one time that I wasn't in church, she didn't fuss thriough the whole service!!!  Figures!!!

June 11, 2002:  Today Jasmine had an appointment at the Health Center, but I called in and canceled.  Momma wasn't feeling very well.  And it wasn't an important appointment.  She had just gotten her shots May 15th, and she got weighed and everything that day.  I rescheduled for the 26th of June.

June 12, 2002:  Today Jasmine was going to go to her Grandma B.'s house for the day, but she had to reschedule, because she had to teach some classes.  We rescheduled for the following Wednesday to go shopping in Memphis to look for christening gowns.  Just Grandma, Momma, and Lil' Miss Jasmine!

June 14, 2002:  Today is Flag Day, and also Jasmine's Great- Grandpa McCabe's 70th birthday. Momma and Grandma M.  went to Greenville to do some shopping.  That's all I can remember for today!!!

June 16, 2002:  Today is Jasmine's Daddy's first Father's Day, so she got to spend the day with him today.  Momma went to church without Jasmine, but I got a chance to actually pay attention during the service and not have to worry about keeping Jasmine quiet and calm.  Momma went to Greenville to do a little shopping, AGAIN!!!  Grandpa M.  wanted to stay home and watch the golf tournament on tv all day long, so he did just that.  Jasmine was wonderful shopping today!

June 18, 2002:  Today I took Jasmine to the hospital where she was born, so that I could ask about why I didn't get my birth certificate for her yet, and my baby is almost 6 months already~ (The ones they give out with the baby's footprints on them, when they are just born).  I asked a lady at the front desk who I could see about it, and she told me that that hospital doesn't give them out.  She called a lady up on that floor in the nursery, and they said they don't give them out.  I said thank you, and left.  As soon as I left the doors I started crying.  That means a lot to me.  I don't have prints of Jasmine's feet on a document, when I've been waiting for that piece of paper forever now.  My whole family has one of their own, and I don't have one for Jasmine.  You have no idea how much that upsets me!  If I would have known that before, I would have stamped her feet myself.  Now Jasmine is almost 6 months old, and I have no trace of her, other than pictures and little memory from the day she was born.  So then I went to my Dad's office to talk to him about it, but the subject was dropped soon after.  They wanted to see Jasmine scoot on her hinder, so I brought a blanket inside, but all she did was play, and roll over.

June 19th, 2002:  Today Momma, Jasmine, and Grandma B.  went to Memphis for the day to look at christening gowns.  We got some lunch before we got started, then we went to 2 small adorable kid stores.  Actually the first place we went, we found some beautiful dresses, but the sizes were kind of mixed up, the next store was similar to the first, but we still went to the mall to check other places out before we decided on a dress.  We didn't have much luck at all in the mall, but we managed to pick up a few other things besides what we went there for in the first place.  We got some ice-cream, and drove back to the first shop we went to.  Then we tried on the dress that we liked the best, on Jasmine, and it looks cute, (of course)!  So we got it, and took off back home.  Jasmine was getting pretty restless, and so were we.  It had been a long day, but Jasmine was really good.  We even got some great big smiles and laughs in the mall that we managed to capture on camera.  The only part she didn't like, was the car ride.  It was just too much for her, and I don't blame her.  I had a great time, and I know Jasmine did too!  We got home around 8:30pm or so.  Grandma B.  got to see her scoot a little bit on a blanket on the floor.  She was in a really good mood again once we got home.  She played for awhile, had a bedtime snack =)  Then went to bed!  So did I!

June 21, 2002:  I know that I hadn't written in this online journal lately, but I'll try to catch up.  I've been busy.  Jasmine scoots on her hinder faster than a speedy bullet, and I have to watch her like a hawk!  It's so cute!  She can go across the room laying on her back, using her legs and butt, while arching her back~ manages to scoot across the room in a matter of seconds, with a huge grin on her face!  It seems as though she's a night-time girl.  Today she's been a real cranky girl.  Not to mention SPOILED!  I gave her a lick of my popsicle and she threw a screaming fit whenever I took it away.  I didn't think it was possible for a baby who's not even 6 months old, could get spoiled like that!  We did manage to watch some cartoons this morning though.  She sits totally quiet and content, while staring at the tv the whole time, when we watch "Blue's Clues" and "Oswald!"  It's so cute!!!

June 22, 2002:  How was Jamsine day today?  Well~  with only about a half hour total of naptime~ how do you think things were?  Fussy Fussy Fussy!!!  She had her happy moments, (of course at 9:00 at night though) but other than that~ she's been a complete spoiled brat.  I managed to get mt daily routine finished (a little late, but finished) with teh help of some babysitters around the house.  She finally fell asleep at about 9:30pm.  I'm hoping she'll sleep good into the morning.  I may have to wake her up again, so I canget her ready for church.  Good thing service starts at 11am, whereas if it started any earlier, I would never be ready to go, much less have Jasmine ready.

Jasmine discovered she could make a new sound today.  It's like puckering her lips in a little and spitting, or playing with the saliva in her mouth; and making noises from her lips and from the back of her mouth and throat.  She's dont it a lot today.  She also got mad when Momma had some chocolate ice cream and Jasmine kept reaching for the bowl, and Moma wouldn't give her any.  She screamed her head off.

June 23, 2002:  Today was a usual day in the McGaughy household.  Jasmine was a little less fussy, but she still had her moments.  At least she had a couple of decent naps.  I went to church alone, with Jasmine today, but brought her back to the nursery shortly before the service started, because she was getting tired~ and did fall asleep as soon as we got home.  Tomorrow afternoon is Jasmine's screening at Dr. Tibbs Clinic.  I can't wait to see how much that girl weighs now!  It's been about a month or so since the last time she was weighed and measured.

June 24, 2002:  Jasmine had a pretty good morning, but then got cranky.  More like uncomfortable!  She's teething really bad!  She had an appointment with Dr. Tibbs this afternoon for a screening and everything.  They poked her thumb to draw some blood, and she didn't like that!  It took her about 10 seconds to realize that it hurt, and she started to cry.  She weighs 17lbs 4 oz. now and is 27" long.  Dr. Bob said there couldn't be a more healthier baby in Bolivar County.  She's doing everything she should be doing for 6 months and she's really strong.  He said to me then; " Just keep on doing whatever you're doing now".  Later on in the day, I managed to fit in  a bike ride, and get all of my  daily cleanup stuff routine done before I took a nice relaxing bath, with no worries~ because NO ONE was in the house but me!!!  It's nice relaxing, and not having to be alert, listening for a crying baby, or being rushed to get going again.  Now it's 11:30pm and I need to get to bed, now that Jasmine is asleep.  I hope tomorrow is a better day.

Oh!  We set the date for Jasmine's baptism.  It will be July 21st.  Her great-grandparents are going to try to make it down here for a visit, and for the baptism ceremony, so I'm excited about that.  Especially when they've never seen her in person yet!  It should be a great time!

June 25, 2002:  Today Jasmine had an excellent day.  She had 3 good naps today.  After she woke up at 6:30am and had something to eat, she layed back down to sleep until 9:30am~ woke up and layed back down at about 10:30am, and slept in her swing until about 1:30pm.  Then layed back down in her swing at 3:30pm, and slept until 5:30pm.  Can you believe that I was actually bored?  I had nothing to catch up on, really.  So I got to eat some breakfast, and lunch, and still have time to relax.  WOW!  Later on in the night, she got a little cranky..... I think because her mouth hurt from teething so much.  But she then fell asleep again at about 9:30pm.  All and all, it was a pretty good day.

June 26, 2002:  This morning Jasmine had another appointment at the Health Center, just for a monthly checkup and to talk about diet and milestones and everything.  That's about it.  I got another scheduled date at the Health Department for July 3rd, that I need to reschedule, to get her 6 month shots.  They want her to get them before she goes to Wisconsin in mid- July.  After that, I won't have to go back until August.  But other than that...  I was in and out of there in no time.  Came home, and Jasmine took another good nap.  (A little over an hour, this time)  Now she's just playing on the floor with all her little toys, talking away, as happy as can be!

June 27, 2002:  Today Momma spent the day catching up on laundry and packing to go to Ashland to see family and friends for the weekend.  Grandpa M. is leaving this afternoon, but Grandma M., Momma, and Jasmine are all leaving tomorrow morning, and will be stopping in Memphis on the way to do some shopping.  Jasmine has had some good naps today, so I'm hoping it will stay the same for the rest of the day.  Momma needs to get going to finish up on things and have some lunch.  I rescheduled  appointment to get her 6 month shots for July 9th, the day before we leave to Wisconsin.

June 28, 2002:  Today is Jasmine's 6 month Birthday!  Yay!  Can you believe that she's 6 months?  I can't!  Time flys so fast!  I just wanna hold her and cuddle with her forever!  We left to Ashland today for the weekend.  On the way there, Momma and Grandma M. went to Memphis to look for some things for our trip to Wisconsin, and for a different christening bonnet.  We had luck with everything else but the bonnet.  Figures!!!

June 29, 2002:  Today we had the Abel's Store Reunion in Ashalnd.  It was a pretty good success, and it was pretty fun seeing everyone again.  Jasmine slept for about 2 hours during the reunion, so I got a chance to eat and visit for awhile.  It was so hot outside though!!!  And later that night we decided to go to a fireworks show that was going on that evening, and it was great!!!  Jasmine didn't cry at all.  She's was "awwed" by the whole thing, but then she got tired.  It was first 9pm when they started, so I can understand that!  It was fun!

June 30, 2002:  Today was a pretty rough day for Jasmine.  She has been itching really bad.  We got home from Ashland at about 3pm and everyone was so exhausted from all the driving and all the hot weather.  Jasmine got a good nap after we got home, so Momma got a chance to unpack everything and eat some supper later on. I'm going to try to call Dr. Bob again to see if I can get some prescription shampoo and body wash, asap!
